Food for All!

My buddy, Lara Hamburger, is in this article! She's doing amazing things in her life such as picking fruit to supply people who are in need of not only food, but fresh produce that would otherwise go to waste. I love the whole concept of supplying more nutritious food and not letting good food go to waste! There should be absolutely no reason for anybody in the US to go hungry. And hey! It's definitely another great way to donate, and you know where the resource is going to!

R.I.P. CRISTAL B

I only met this girl a few times. She impressed me though because she was so happy and fun. I remember thinking how it would be fun to hang out with her more. She liked some of the same things I did and was fun to make jokes with. It was shocking to find out that she died, because just a few days before we were FB messaging each other about tattoos. So many of her friends and family miss her, and it so sad. I definitely feel for them. She has touched many people's lives and it makes me hope that when I die, people would remember many good things about me as well.

Ah, the beautiful voice of Ali Homan. I think people who really know Ali, understands what her lyrics mean throughout the song. Yet, everyone can get an idea of a lil part of her. Wonderful song.

I was on a friend's tumblr page and happened to click a link to this lady's blog. It's full of her photography. Raw and amazing. It's candid, real people not giving a fuck, beautiful. I love seeing the beauty in people when they aren't just full of make up with the typical smiley pictures most girls I see constantly plaster on facebook. It's so refreshing to see photos like this again.

So, I decided to buy a Holga 120 N camera to play with. I bought some Fuji color film and took shots on a nice sunny Saturday. Like I expected, only a few photos turned the way I hoped it to. Now that I know how the pictures look, I can plan better for my future photographs. Here are a few that I enjoyed.

Hanna put some lyrics of Neil Young up, and I had a sudden desire to listen to a bunch of his songs. If I had the sources, I would love to be inebriated while listening to Neil Young lying in a hammock right now. Speaking of hammocks, I just had a memory of being in a hammock Anjali gave me from a commune she lived at. This hammock was in one of the best backyards that I ever lived in at the best house, with the best huge ass kitchen, the best parties, best bonfire pit, and yes, best roommates ever.

I do not know what is going on in this country and I do not know why Republicans are attacking women lately. READ THIS ARTICLE. It's like all this progress women have been fighting for is being reversed and set back many years. They are also trying to get rid of AmeriCorps!! WTF?! I don't care if you are Republican or not, people should understand that this will hinder our country. People need to keep on fighting and instead of focusing on materialistic things that just feed into the deadly cycle of consumerism, we need to focus more on the important things that effect not only ourselves but everybody else. Think about it, maybe you don't worry right now because you think we have it all and easy, but we wouldn't be here if it was not for the people who speak up. So yes, stop making excuses for why you do not have time for this or that...and blah blah blah, just DO it.

New Buddies for Mom

I remember seeing cute lil' cacti for sale at the Hillcrest Farmer's Market, and I had a sudden urge to buy some for my mom. She loves plants, especially cacti, my parent's living room's huge window would be covered with pots of these prickly demons. My friends back in the high school days would tell others that my house is easy to find by locating the cactus plants. Anyway, it was perfect timing because I found out that my mom had a tumor removed successfully the day it was delivered to the house.

Caprese Salad

Insalata Caprese with Fuji apple slices on the side. I got the tomato, basil, and apple from the Hillcrest Farmers Market. I love it when the mozzarella and tomato soaks up the olive oil and balsamic vinegar, the freshness of the basil, and how it's spiced up a lil with black pepper (I <3 black pepper). I have a sugar tooth and Fuji apples are just perfect, so crispy and sweet! Yummy, and I guess it's healthy too!
