Folklore Tricksters
Lewis Hyde: "trickster is a boundary-crosser" (7). By that, he means that the trickster crosses both physical and social boundaries-- the trickster is often a traveller, and he often breaks societal rules. Tricksters cross lines, breaking or blurring connections and distinctions between "right and wrong, sacred and profane, clean and dirty, male and female, young and old, living and dead" (Hyde 7). --http://faculty.gvsu.edu/websterm/Tricksters.htm--

Button Mashing Time! Mortal Kombat!
Oh man, those sweet sweet days when your thumbs are raw and your eyes burn from staying up playing video games with your buddies. Oh, and I remember wanting badly to be Sonya and do her scissor kick move. also, those many bruises that occur when we would imitate fights with each other in the basement while our parents were gambling in the dining room...and yes, those bruises were bragged about later.
If you got time to waste, I recommend this...
and uh, some of this.

BLU...I DIG
I spent a lot of time gawking at his site that I drooled all over my keyboard.
Emily Delunas and I got to see this wall mural when we were on the tram in Berlin, Germany. There are so many wonderful graffiti in Berlin, especially around the Kreuzberg district. I think the more legal it is to graffiti, the better the graffiti. More time and thought can be spent on it. Site: http://www.blublu.org/

OLD JOY
This movie made me realize how much I miss camping and hiking. I cannot wait til I get to pet beautiful green moss again, my fingers yearn for the soft texture. The scenes in Old Joy remind me of my backpacking experience in Tennessee. The amazing feeling to be surrounded by nature away from the busy city and the pressures of society. My mind at peace. How being dirty felt so natural. Oh, and the air smelled so fresh. The movie takes place in Oregon, now I have another place on my list to go and visit.
The movie is slow and peaceful, so it captures just the right mood.

Here's a link to some of my work in college. I prefer people to look at them as sets rather than photostream.

leonid meteor shower
at the bottom of the mountain we finally found a parking place that wasn't occupied by a bunch of cars, i was surprised so many people were excited and awake at 1:30 am (i guess i'm getting old)
with the new moon you could view so many stars out, i quickly found my two fave or more like the only two constellations i recognized easily, O'ryan and the big dipper.
the wind chilled my bones and i wrapped myself in my green blanket from mexico even though i was wearing a turtleneck, scarf and coat. thank god for long socks.
we took many night pictures, trying to capture the stars without too much blur
the hot cocoa was more of lukewarm hot cocoa and the hot tomato soup became cold soup, but it was oh so delicious anyway
we lied down on a blanket on the cold hard ground and tried keeping warm by being sardines
we were afraid of being attacked by a javelina, or i was at least
every time a good shooting star streaked by that left a trail, instead of trying to make a wish, my mind could only go "oooohhh"
it was a wonderful night, and i'm glad i found buddies spontaneous enough to go out with me. fuck being old and falling into the mundane rituals in life.

GOOD THINGS ARE HAPPENING BUT I STILL MISS BTOWN PPL
my birthday was awesome, i somehow got everyone to dress up, put on mustaches, and put on the fake blood i made to take photos during that night's potluck. and NOW IT'S TIME FOR CAKE! ice cream cake to be exact.the next day i saw gogol bordello with tara. a previous post has stated the great incident of eugene's and elizabeth's hand making contact with mine. at the encore they played 4 more awesome songs.
the zombie walk was amazing. listened to some psychobilly surf punk rock band, THE MISSION CREEPS, at the congress.
somehow i won 2 free tickets to Kool and the Gang from the zombie walk raffle. hell yea.
met some crazy old punk who saw that i was reading, Guerrilla Warfare, by Ernesto Che Guevera and gave me two of his books to borrow. Steal this book, by Abbie Hoffman and Anarchism: A Collection of Revolutionary Writings, by Peter Kropotkin. I feel like this is a sign that I should be more interested in these subjects. I also have been craving some different books lately, perfect. i do need to get my hands on more graphic novels/comics...the comic con is coming soon!
just turned the art and ceramics room into a badass haunted house with buddies from work. might dress up as a clown or be the mad scientist at the eyeball and worms station (grapes and noodles).
freaking cit I and II, cpr, and first aid certified baby!
teaching photography classes now, and some fun shit happening soon.
gonna battle with some sign language in the future.
sewed my halloween costume. felt organs on a black dress (ereka, fixed the darts for me. thanks!). inside out girl? still contemplating spraying a brain on a bike helmet with hot pink and silver, but not wanting to wear that around all night.
checked my deviantart account that i haven't for a year (stuff i made back in high school) and a lot of people added my photo of brad as their favorite! Title: Illusion. A lot of artwork on the site i cringe whenever i see them because of my titles and how tacky most ended up to be (can tell by my username). http://aznsh0rti86.deviantart.com/just noticed this is my first blog with so much crap written. pictures soon for them.

a quote from barret's letter of his studies in ethiopia
"Oh yeah, plenty of rodents here, and when we’re not studying geladas we are defending our tents, cloths and food from these invading bucked toothed demons."

Note to Self: Do NOT run into someone's lit cig with your face again. You will not care at the time, you will regret it later.
